Today we have, New York Times Best Selling Author, Mari Carr joining us as a guest on Wickedly Sexy Writers.
The third book in the Just Because series Because It’s True (RELEASED TODAY) is a great milestone for this award winning author. You see this is her first fully m/m book and I for one can’t wait to read it. I am glad she decided to go to the dark side and hope there is more m/m in her near future. I’ve been a Mari Carr fan for awhile and highly recommend you read her books if you haven’t yet.
Here is a peek at her new release!
Sometimes there are only two choices. Love…or leave.
Jacob James falls for Rodney the moment the New York City cop crash lands into his far-too-predictable ranch life. The sexy city slicker is everything a lonely Wyoming cowboy could ever dream of. When Rodney is shot in the line of duty, however, their off-the-charts attraction turns unexpectedly cool. Jacob offers the only thing he has left—friendship.
All Rodney can think about—besides his cowboy lover—is getting back to his job. But what good is a cop who can’t fire a gun? While he’s grateful for Jacob’s support through months of grueling physical therapy, how can he offer anything more when his own future is so uncertain?
When he’s finally cleared to return to work in New York, Rodney thought it would be the happiest day of his life. Except reaching his goal means leaving Jacob behind…and a future he never thought he wanted. Until now…
Warning: New York City cop meets Wyoming cowboy. Come on. You know that’s going to be hot.
“Can’t exactly blame your straight brother for putting a bar between him and all these gay guys. This place is more crowded than most of the gay bars in the city. I’ve been hit on half a dozen times already and handed three phone numbers.”
Jacob narrowed his eyes slightly. Rodney tried not to acknowledge how warm and fuzzy the jealous look made him feel.
“Anyone with potential?” Jacob asked.
He had to leave it to Jacob. He was a talented actor in the play it casual role. Rodney shook his head. “No. Not at all.”
“Good,” Jacob said so quietly Rodney wasn’t sure he heard it at all.
Caleb wiped up the counter in front of them. “By the way, Rodney, I ran into your PT, Joyce, this morning. Congratulations on the clean bill of health. Looks like all your hard work paid off. New York’s going to be getting back one hell of a cop.”
“What?” Jacob’s shocked tone went through Rodney like nails.
“I thought you said she just gave you more exercises to do.”
Caleb’s softly muttered “shit” proved he knew he’d just fucked up. Rodney couldn’t be angry. It was his lie that landed him in this mess, not Caleb.
“I’ll leave you guys alone.” Caleb walked to the opposite end of the bar and began serving up more drinks.
“Why did you lie?” Jacob asked quietly.
“Tonight was your night, Jake. I didn’t want to take that away from you.”
“Do you honestly think I’d begrudge you your miracle, your happiness? This is what you’ve worked for, Rod. I don’t see how you being cleared to return to New York would take away from the party.”
“Don’t you?” It was a pointed question and as close as Rodney had ever come to calling Jacob on the carpet about his feelings. Rodney wasn’t blind and he wasn’t stupid.
Jacob cleared his throat, then looked away. He faced the makeshift dance floor, careful to avoid looking at him. “I have no hold on you.”
Rodney chuckled mirthlessly. “God. I wish that was true.”
Jacob’s gaze flew back to his. “What’s that mean?”
Rodney didn’t reply. Instead, he leaned forward and placed his lips on Jacob’s. They’d been together, in each other’s faces for six months, and never once had Rodney given in to his desire to kiss Jacob.
The moment they touched, every suspicion he’d harbored about his feelings for Jacob crashed in on him and he knew he’d been right to fight the attraction. He also knew this kiss was fucking up all that restraint. It was too late now.
He lifted his hand to Jacob’s cheek, letting it drift through Jake’s soft hair. He followed suit with the other hand, cupping Jacob’s face, holding the man’s lips against his. Not that the grip was necessary. Jacob wasn’t pulling away.
Jacob returned the kiss, his lips parting. Their tongues tangled roughly, hungrily. Months’ worth of pent-up desires released themselves in their melding of mouths. There was no coming back from this.
Hours seemed to pass, yet neither of them came up for air. As for Rodney, he didn’t want to break the spell. This was too fucking good.
“Get a room,” one of the inebriated partygoers yelled.
Jacob backed away first, his face the perfect blend of bliss and nerves. Rodney could understand the feeling.
“Jake, I’m sorry I lied about—”
Jacob shook his head. “No. I get it now. I really do. Rodney, I’d never stand between you and what you want, you know that, right?”
Rodney nodded. Jacob had become one of the best friends he’d ever had in his life. He’d never met such a selfless, giving guy.
“You’ve just spent months working your ass off so you can go back to New York, back to being a cop. I want you to have that life because it’s what makes you happy. It’s just—”
Rodney didn’t let him finish. “Your home is here.”

You ever get so excited about something you literally start counting down the days until the big event??? Yep that is me right about now!!! What event am I talking about you ask??….Okay you didn’t really ask but I’m going to tell you anyways lol.
Why that would be the Lori Foster Annual Reader Writer Get Together.
This will be my third year in attendance and every year I have an even better time then the last.
You see this is the only conference I can attend because its close and really reasonably priced $50 for the whole convention and that includes meals! Not to mention it’s 2 hours from home so in case of an emergency (my youngest child is autistic so it’s definitely a possiblity) I can get home if I need to.
Last year I went as an author but this year I am going as a reader just because well they had limited space and I am no where in the ilks of big name authors, ie: Sherriyln Kenyon and Lora Leigh, to sit in a signing.
Now that doesn’t mean that I won’t sign anything people thrust in my face (in fact I may cry and give you a big kiss ;0)) and I will also be carrying around a little promo with me in fact I bought something special just for this.
I ordered these ducks (only about 50) to carry around and give away as promo while I am there. So if you’re going you totally need to find me early so that I can give you a vamp duck and a hug. Yeah I am a hugger so sue me lol.
I will also collect as much promo as I can and more than likely do a give away on my website for that and your very own vampire duck.
As the days go down more and more I keep buying more and more stuff to take with me.
I think the thing I am most excited about is just getting out of the house for more than a day and spending some with friends. I don’t think I have laughed as hard and as much as I did the last time I was up there!
Thanks for coming by and joining in on my excitement I will be sure to let you know of my experience and giveaway as soon as I get back!
Hey everyone Drea here…Yeah I know you hardly hear from me but in my defense I have been super busy so busy that if offered a clone I would ask for two lol.
This week has been an exciting week to say the least. Not only did I have my first PRINT book come out but also a new novella. YEAH!! So I have been in release day HEAVEN lol.
I am hoping my muse will be kind and allow me too write something really soon because as of yet I haven’t gotten a single story out in oh lets say 6 months. *sigh*
Okay so since I have to relases this week I am going to do an IN YOUR FACE blatant promo post on both. I hope you don’t mind.

After the death of the only woman he ever truly loved, Jack finds that forgetting the yesterdays is harder then he ever imagined. Impossible, until one woman comes into his life and turns it upside down making him rethink where his future leads, and whether he really wants to survive it on his own. Samantha Larsh, a single mother, only wants what is best for her and her newborn son. So when offered a job at ARC Management, she is elated at the opportunity to provide the life they both desperately need. One day, one job, and one secret later her life would be forever changed. Can the future handed to her by fate be enough for her to look forward to tomorrow, or is she forever doomed to live in the shadow of yesterdays ghost?

While the substantial amount of debt stacks heavy on her shoulders Cassidy Abshire can’t help but morn the loss of her home, as well as everything in it, while watching as it’s auctioned off one piece of at time. But through the fog of sorrow comes a bright light in the form of a vampire who fills her thoughts with hope and her body with lust.
Tristan never wanted to be the new clan master but after the death of his grandfather he is forced into the position until a suitable replacement is in place to take over the job. On the journey to fulfill his duty he comes across the scent of his mate and will stop at nothing to make Cassidy his forever.
Together they find that sometimes it only takes one moment to truly change the path of their future. It only takes one bite for them to be sold for an eternity in bliss together.
“I can’t get him off my mind,” Cass surrendered. “It’s like he’s the last morsel of chocolate on the planet, and I’m craving a fix.”
“So, are you going to let him bite you?”
“What? Are you crazy? No!”
“Oh honey, there is nothing like a vampire bite. Totally orgasmic.”
“Speaking from experience?”
“Hello! I’m a succubus. I’ve slept with just about every kind of man, and even a few women. But I’m telling you, if he asks, let him do it. It’s totally worth it.”
“Whatever you say, Sin, but I’ve stayed a bite-virgin this long, and I don’t foresee that changing anytime soon.”
“Will you two quit yapping and get your asses out here? We’re getting slammed!” one of the other waitresses yelled from the other side of the door.
“The crowd waits for no one. We’ll talk more about this later.” Pivoting on her very high heels, Sin exited the break-room before Cassidy could get a word in edgewise.
Taking a deep breath, Cassidy grabbed her tray and headed out into the main room. Scooting her way around body after body, she made her way to the bar.
Once reaching her destination, she bent over to speak into the bartender’s ear. Just then a loud growling noise filled the air, and everyone went silent.
You know what they say about curiosity and the cat? Well, it’s true for mortals as well, Cass thought—because sure enough, the second she turned around to see what the commotion was all about, she knew she was in trouble.
Everyone stared at Tristan, but his only focus was on Cassidy—or rather on herbody, since his eyes roamed from sex-kitten heels to corset-covered breast, while anger filled his face. Any sane girl would have pissed herself in fear, but Cass was nowhere near sane. The way his gaze drifted over her body made her break out in lust-filled goosebumps everywhere.
The crowd parted like the Red Sea as Tristan started toward her, never taking his eyes from his target. Once reaching his destination, Tristan didn’t say a word; he just let loose another growl deep in his throat, and hauled Cassidy up into his arms while taking her mouth in a hard punishing kiss. The murmurs of the crowd faded as she lost herself once again in the taste of him. Dueling tongues and scraping teeth only fueled the fire beneath her skin, and then the world went black.
Seconds later, lips still parting, as if nothing were amiss, Cassidy registered the lack of noise and the change of scenery through the lust-filled fog. Forcingherself to pull away, Cassidy pushed him back and stared into his eyes.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” he demanded with an anger-filled voice, and glared at her while crossing his arms.
“Me? What the hell do you think you’re doing? How dare you teleport me without my permission! Who the hell do you think you are?”
“I am your mate, damn it—and no man should see that much of your skin, except me.”

Demeter “Dare” Senedal is the Queen’s Chalice-her protector and closest companion. So when the queen goes missing, Dare rushes to locate her, even though the search leads her straight into trouble.
A gentleman who trades in secrets and sin, Bodhan revels in carnal delights, but when a naked and bound woman appears on his shore, he finds his hunger to possess at odds with his need to protect. As Bodhan shares his knowledge of pleasure, Dare must decide if she can trust him, both with her mission and her heart.
Seraphina always lands on her feet. After all, she is a Felidae-more feline than human-and an excellent thief. There has never been a job Phina wouldn’t take or a man who could tame her…until she meets Cyrus Arendal.
As the Queen’s Sword, Cyrus should have known better than to fall victim to a beautiful bandit. Now, to find and retrieve the moonfire dagger, he’ll need to convince Phina not to judge a man by his station, but rather by how completely he can satisfy her desires.
“Welcome to Trader’s Square.”
Dare stopped short, digging the heels of her scuffed, borrowed boots into the dirt.
That was the queen’s voice. It was tinny and unnatural, but it was hers.
She looked over the crowd to find the source of the cheerful announcement. There, seated on a throne of limestone, nodding to the passersby, was a life-sized automated replica of the queen coated in delicate copper leaf. A crank key at the base turned slowly as the figure moved through its sequence of operations with clockwork precision. A nod. A wave. An expression of serenity.
It was a masterful likeness. Dare had seen other such automatons before, most as they were being built. The artisans told her that people loved to feel the queen was watching over them wherever they lived, which was why they were sent out to all of the cities in Theorrey. In this way, everyone could be as close to her divine presence as possible. In spirit if not in truth.
This one was the best yet, forged with such attention to detail that Dare had to move closer.
Queen Idony the Ever Young. The artistic engineer had captured the eternally fourteen-year-old monarch perfectly; the mischievous smile, the large, deep-set jeweled eyes, wise and knowing beyond her apparent years. Even the distinctive shining hair was exact—made of fine, individual strands of white gold. It fell to her shoulders, drawing attention to the necklace that always adorned her graceful neck.
The Nymphaea Infinitum.
Dare had been a much younger, newly chosen Chalice the first time she saw the amulet. It had fascinated her ever since. Its strangely shaped gears, made of a metal unlike any she’d seen before, surrounded a lotus whose many petals were crafted from the valuable greenish-blue theorrite. What made it all the more unusual was that it seemed more than an ornament. It appeared to be grafted to the queen’s skin. As much a part of her as her own flesh.
“The symbol of my rule,” Queen Idony had told her with a small, ironic tilt of her lips.
The immense sadness emanating from her when she’d said it had made Dare—naïvely foolish and unaware of protocol—ask her why. Father had warned her not to share the knowledge of her gifts with others, but he couldn’t have meant to include the queen. Surely she, of all people, already knew. She knew everything.
“You dare to presume what your queen is feeling?” Idony’s smile had grown, and real amusement rolled off her in pleased waves. “I think you will be my favorite Senedal,
Demeter. And I know we shall be friends. Though I’m not sure such a stodgy name will suit you. What was the commander thinking? I believe I will call you Dare.”
A scratchy, female voice interrupted her musings and brought her back to reality with a jolt. “Pretty version ain’t she, boy? We’ve been needin’ a new one for years. Got her in a few weeks ago though, surprised if this is the first time you’ve seen her.”
Dare couldn’t tear her gaze away from the moving statue as it nodded in regal welcome. She knew she had to acknowledge the woman who had appeared beside her lest she seem odd or out of place, but it was not easy to look away from the dearly familiar queen.
She tried not to flinch when she finally glanced up at the thin, taller woman’s face.
One half of it was smiling. The other half, malformed from some terrible misfortune, was pulled into a grimace.
Dare forced herself to speak. “I’ve been ill. A . . . friend was looking after me.”
The scarred hand patting her arm stilled for a moment, and Dare sensed a jarring edge of suspicion from the woman. “Ill, you say? That’s too bad. But you look healthy enough now. Young and strong. Though I’m guessing it must be a tender throat that has you still sounding like a girl at your age. Friend, huh? Don’t have any family to look after you, then? No one who would care that you walk through the square untended?”
Dare tried to deepen her voice. “Yes. My throat. And I’m old enough to be on my own. I need no attending.”
Suddenly, Dare could barely hold back her tears. All the emotions around her must be affecting her control. A member of the Wode did not cry. She’d learned that long ago, when her father had first left her at the palace. She was a warrior, a soldier. Bred to be a companion and guard. Love and family were not for people like her.
Yet she did have a family of sorts in Queen Idony and Cyrus. An Arendal, Cyrus was
Dare’s counterpart, the Queen’s Sword. They had arrived at the palace on the same day, replacing generations of their predecessors as the queen’s companion guards.
Her Arendal and Senedal. Her Sword and Chalice.
She hadn’t cried when, months ago, she had been informed that Cyrus was missing, presumed dead. She hadn’t cried when she discovered that the queen . . . No. She could hardly admit the truth, even to herself. It was too horrific.
She could not cry now.
Dare tugged the brim of the large woolen hat farther down, to hide her expression.
She wasn’t quick enough.
“Oh my,” the young woman, who looked to be around her age, tutted. “Here you’ll be thinking Lucy Thrice is ugly and mean. Put my foot in it, did I? I’m sure you are perfectly capable of attending yourself. Nothing could scare a brave lad like you, eh?
But that throat and those watery eyes have given Lucy an idea. Tell you what, I have a special grain tonic that’ll ease your troubles. My own creation. Good for all that ails you. I won’t charge you a thing for a taste.”
The queen’s automaton tilted her head. “Welcome to Trader-der- der-der-Dare-Dare-Trader’s Square.”
Dare’s heart stuttered along with the replica’s vocal recording. Had it just said—? No, that was preposterous. It had to be a coincidence.
A man walked by and kicked the platform, the hollow thud making Dare cringe. He no doubt believed, as anyone with good sense would, that the gears within had jammed.
As he passed, one of the queen’s metal eyelids lowered over a jeweled eye, which was emitting a soft blue glow. It looked decidedly like a wink. Impossible.
“The artist’ll be hearing about that little glitch I’ll wager. Come on, now. Time for my famous remedy.” The woman tugged on her arm but Dare shook her head. Seeing the queen’s likeness had only increased her urgency and reinforced her determination to complete her mission. Visiting with this pleasant unfortunate had no part in it.
“You are kind, Miss—”
“Thrice, is me. Lucy Thrice.”
Dare nodded. “You are kind, Miss Thrice.” She politely but firmly
disengaged herself from the woman’s grime-covered grasp. “Unfortunately I must be on my way.”
“Listen to that,” a male voice drawled behind her. “If I closed my eyes, I’d be sure a lady from the Hill had come to visit with those sparklin’ manners, instead of a dirty lowborn boy.”
She saw Lucy’s mud-brown eyes narrow. “So would I. The lady part leastwise. I’m thinking we’ve found our special bird.”

Subject: Oops, did I do that????
It’s been a month, Ace, and you have yet to find and fire the one who wronged my friend. I have given you more than ample time and now it’s time for you to pay.
You are up against one hell of a computer chick. And Ace, I am holding your system ransom until you meet the demands.
I hope you don’t have important meetings you need to be in this week, because I just cancelled them.
Oh isn’t it wonderful how the world translates in 101011, LOL.
NO YOU CAN’T,
Your Local Vigilante
Oh, how good it felt finally sending that message. After a long night of hacking into the arrogant asshole’s computer system, she finally had the worm in place, and his system stalled. Sometimes, it paid to be one hell of a computer wiz and even one better, having software irreversible by anyone but herself.
Sure, it would be a huge inconvenience for both Mr. Griffin and maybe his secretary, but that’s as far as her vigilance went. Diane only wanted to make one man pay, so no need to hack the entire ARC main frame. Other employees should not pay for the failure of their boss, nor should the customers who pay for services needed.
Chuckling lightly she added one of the many pictures she had of a super muscled and super shiny naked man. The man was seriously too prude for his own good so why not add a little man candy in the mix? Plus it made her happy to imagine the look on his face as a man in all his glory playing with himself popped up every time he clicked the mouse.
Totally engrossed in what she was doing, Diane didn’t notice Tina standing in the doorway. Dressed in a black skirt with a yellow blouse, she had her hair pulled in a bun. If you didn’t know any better, you would think she was your ordinary woman, but Diane did know better.
“What are you looking at?” Crossing the room, Tina looked over her shoulder at the naked man holding himself while leaning his head under the spray of his seemingly enjoyable shower. “Nice, where can I get one of those?”
“1-800-HOT-DICK,” bringing a chuckle from them both.
“You’ve been at it all night again, haven’t you?” Tina said, crossing her arms across her chest and glaring.
“Always treating me like a kid. Yeah Mommy, I spent all night on the computer. But I swear, once I hit the pillows, I’ll sleep all afternoon.” With a half smile, Diane pushed away from the desk and headed toward her friend.
“You better, I swear I have no idea how you go on as little sleep as you do. I would have migraines out the ass if I tried to pull that stunt.”
“Luck of the genes, I guess.” Diane shrugged then hugged her friend lightly. Releasing her, she stepped back a couple of steps to continue their conversation. “When are you going to give your resignation?”
“I will in a couple of weeks. We have some pretty big hitters coming in and I want to get them settled before I up and leave. It’s the least I can do before I leave them bereft an acquisitions agent.”
“And a damn good one at that.”
“You are too kind to that man after the way he treated you.”
“Just because someone else got the job as agent doesn’t mean he’s not a good boss, Diane. I sure don’t hold a grudge over what happened. And I have no clue why you would either.”
“I just hate to see anyone hurt the ones I love.”
“Oh, honey, I love you too but just let it go. It’s so not worth the trouble or worry.”
“I can’t help but worry about you, T. You’re my family.”
“You’re my best friend, and I would be so lost without you.”
“I know. I am pretty fabulous.” Blowing on her nails, then on her shirt, she winked at her friend.

Chase was pissed. Not only could he not get into any of his files, but his email didn’t work unless sending to only one recipient. The tech guys from his IT department could do nothing to restore it but assured him that only his files were hostage, both were a relief and an annoyance. Obviously, he was the only target of this vigilante, and she was doing a really good job.
Even more pissed now than when first discovering the problem hours ago, Chase shot off an email to his nemesis, satisfied in the knowledge that while he enjoyed a great lunch with his sister and best friend she would be squirming.
