Sizzling VBT: Spotlight on Debbie Gould’s Second Chance

Welcome Debbie Gould to the Wickedly Sexy den. As part of her VBT for Second Chance, Debbie is sharing the blurb and an excerpt.

Lieutenant Colin Beckett, US Air Force special ops, lost his wife in childbirth while off on a mission. Two years later, he’s still trying to come to grips with the guilt that tortures him. And to complicate matters, he finds himself undeniably attracted to his wife’s sister, Emily. Struggling with his desire, he tells himself he doesn’t deserve a second chance with such an amazing woman.

Emily wants Colin in her life and her bed. Enlisting the help of Colin’s teammate’s and Madame Eve’s 1 Night Stand dating service, she plans to prove to Colin he can have everything he lost once again.

Will their one night lead to the happy ending she longs for or the loneliness he thinks he deserves?

EXCERPT

Colin took a step back and cringed. “Aw, shit, Bobby. What’ve you done?”

Bobby punched Zeke in the shoulder and shook his head. “Nothing bad. Actually, it’s so simple you’re gonna kick your ass for not thinking of it first, Ghost.”

He doubted it. More than likely he would kick Bobby’s ass. The man worked overtime to hook him up, like he was a damn charity case. If he wanted to get laid, he could go find his own. Unfortunately, the only woman that spurred his senses in the last year had been Emily. He wanted her so bad he caught himself thinking about her during the day and woke up sweat-soaked and hard at night from dreaming about her.

Shit! Maybe he did need to get laid. “I repeat, what have you done?”

Zeke jumped up. “See, there’s this woman named Madame Eve––”

Colin threw his hands up. “Whoa, whoa, whoa! This is low even for you. I don’t need a freaking prostitute. Damn, Bobby. What the hell are you thinking?”

Bobby laughed. “Not that kind of madame. She runs an elite dating service and sets up one-night stands for consenting adults. It’s a no-strings-attached kind of thing. Just two like-minded adults looking for a night of pleasure. That’s it. You both go in with your eyes open and leave the next more feeling a lot less stressed.”

Colin crossed his arms over his chest and lifted a brow, “And how does she go about finding these people and matching them up?”

“Don’t worry I’ve checked it all out. You go on her website, fill out the application. Then she matches you up with someone who meets your needs. She names the date and place and the rest is on you. It’s all legit.”

“You sound like an infomercial.” Colin shook his head. “This is fucking crazy, ya know. I have no trouble finding my own women.”

“Never said you did, Lieutenant,” Zeke said. “But this way you don’t have to troll the bars, hoping to find a woman who wants to get her rocks off exactly like you. We know that’s not your scene, but this way everyone gets what they want and walks away happy.”

Bobby glared at Zeke. “Where the hell do you come from anyway?” He returned his gaze to Colin. “More like a night of mutual pleasure.”

“I have my own ways of relieving stress.”

Bobby snorted. “Uh, yeah. I’m not talking about whacking off in the shower, dude.”

Colin rubbed his hands over his face. Good God, had he really been reduced to this? “Fine.”

Goddess Fish VBT: Lori Toland and The Long Con

Welcome Lori Toland to the Wicked inner sanctum, everyone! Lori is making a stop on her VBT to promote The Long Con, her recenlty released MM story with Loose id.

As part of her stop, Lori agreed to be  interrogated interviewed, so let’s get to know this talented author better.

WSW: Welcome to Wickedly Sexy, Lori. Introduce yourself to our readers not familiar with your books.

L.T: Hi! I’m Lori Toland. I write gay erotic romance, and even sometimes m/f romance. :) I live in Orlando, FL with my hubby and two cats. I love playing video games when I’m not writing or working as a CEO (which is like, never)

WSW: Have you always wanted to be an author? When did you have that ah-ha! moment?

L.T: Back in 1999. I’d been writing for a while. Back then, there wasn’t a whole lot on the internet as far as crit groups and I didn’t know anything about RWA either. I even had an agent back then willing to try a chance at my writing but I guess I was ahead of my time :)

WSW: If you weren’t writing romance novels, what would you be doing?

L.T: Working my day job. I’m the CEO at the company I started in 1995.

WSW: If given the choice, would you write non-fiction? If yes, what would the topic be?

L.T: Maybe how to start your own company and not die trying. LOL. It’s been a stressful road but rewarding.

WSW: How has your journey been so far in the world of E-publishing?

L.T: It’s been awesome. I’ve been really lucky to work with some of the top editors in the business and I’ve learned a lot.

WSW: I can’t settle down to write without an iced caramel latte and music. What about you? Any weird writing quirks?

L.T: I can’t write if my husband is watching me. Just like he can’t work out with me watching him. I can write anywhere else, just not around him.

WSW: OMG, me too! Tell us about writing The Long Con. Where did the inspiration come from?

L.T: My husband worked for the government in England and he told me one of the agencies had a logo that looked like the Thundercats (the old cartoon) and it was called Serious Organised Crime Agency. (no really, I didn’t make that up) and bang! I had to write a story about it.

WSW: I have to say, I’m from the West Indies, we have a type of music called Soca there and I kept grinning whenever I read that name in TLC. What was it about this story and its characters that you had to write it?

L.T: Tony Terranova had a gun to my head, not that I needed one. These guys were a joy to write. I thoroughly loved every minute, even the sobbing through the low points.

WSW: What would you say was the hardest and easiest parts of writing The Long Con?

L.T: The easiest parts were the sex and lovemaking between the characters. I loved writing Tony and Bradley being in love. The hardest parts were when there was no hope. I knew the ending, it was already written but there wasn’t a ray of light coming through the darkness during some of the scenes.

WSW: The Long Con is GLBT romance, what is it about the particular genre that inspires you?

L.T: I love the romance genre all together, not just gay romance. It’s all about falling in love with another person. Love isn’t limited to gender nor is sex. For me, it’s just about two people love.

WSW: I so agree. Do you think the gender of the author matters when writing GLBT?

L.T: Absolutely not. Men write women characters all the time. Women write male characters all the time. Why can’t women write two men together? If a straight man writes m/m as a fantasy piece, would we give him a hard time?

WSW: Great answer. What’s your opinion regarding the lack of GLBT romance in the New York markets? Do you see it changing anytime soon?

L.T: Their loss. I think New York is catching up slowly but they will eventually get there. They were way behind on the ebook boom too.

WSW: There’s a voracious appetite on the part of readers for GLBT romance. Why do you think that is?

L.T: m/m romance is delicious and fat-free. LOL. It feels good to see two characters who have so much going against them get together and have a happily ever after. I know when I wrote The Long Con, to have that happily ever after with Tony and Bradley was really satisfying,

WSW: When was the last time any of your characters made you blush?

L.T: All the time, especially with The Long Con. They were so dirty and naughty and a couple of times while writing scenes in the book, I had to take a step back and say, “Did I really just write that? Wow!”

WSW: LOL I know that feeling. What’s the last book that made you cry?

L.T: The Long Con. I’m not a crier but there were scenes that made me sob. I think my whole twitter list was laughing at me every time I cried.

WSW: What do you hope readers take away from your stories?

L.T: That, somewhere out there, there is someone who will love you, no matter what. There is a person for everyone who understands you and loves you.

WSW: What’s your favorite place in your entire house to write?

L.T: I love writing at my desk. It’s 25 years old, solid oak and it has a lot of wear and tear on it. I have a great mesh chair too that is very comfortable.

WSW: What does sexy mean to you?

L.T: Sexy is what sexy is to you. Everyone has something that turns them on, that flips their sensors and it’s different for everyone. Some people share kinks, some people are vanilla. It’s all about what turns you on. For me, I love submissive beta heroes. Yum!

WSW: Oh, yes! Do you come with any warning labels?

L.T: Only when I’m on steroids. :D Do not disturb while writing.

WSW: LOL And finally, tell readers what other works you’ve got in store for us this year.

L.T: Well, right now I have a lot planned but it’s super secret :D The next release is coming out from Dreamspinner Press that is called Worth The Wait as part of their Daily Dose. J I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for having me by! :)

What Bradley doesn’t expect is for Tony to fall to his knees so eagerly for him, leaving him blindsided by how intensely their dark tastes complement each other. Now Bradley is caught up in a deadly game of lies and desire, where what he truly wants may not be what duty requires.

EXCERPT:

I walked through the crowd and traded my glass of champagne just as I saw my target. He knew how to dress to stand out, and it wasn’t just the color of his jacket. His thick build was obvious and accentuated by the cut of his jacket. His muscles rippled beneath the expensive material as he lifted a glass of champagne to his mouth. I swallowed my sigh.

He glanced my way, and I froze. Amanda had described him and shown me a few grainy reconnaissance photos, but nothing prepared me for facing him head-on. His dark hair and tanned skin contrasted with his pale blue eyes, and I felt like I had been punched in the stomach.

I held his gaze for a minute and then turned away, but his curious expression made my heart pound. I walked toward another display near the one he stood by, a portrait by a famous Russian artist. Terranova noticed me, but he wasn’t being obvious with his interest.

It was this perfect moment where everything seemed to be falling into place, and for one second I worried this was a setup. Always being on my guard kept me alive, especially during drug busts and dangerous missions. I brushed aside the fears and pushed on.

I looked over at him and shot him an enigmatic smile, one that begged him to come and find out what I was thinking. When I saw him walking in my direction, I mentally patted myself on the back and sipped my champagne as he got closer to me. His gaze never left mine.

I could see why this man intimidated people. His eye contact alone would make almost anyone nervous, but not me. He had an aura about him, as if he were a caged animal kept hungry and was just waiting to pounce. Confidence poured from every ounce of his being. I didn’t look away as he came up to me. I couldn’t; he had seduced me.

REVIEWED by Avril

Lori Toland’s The Long Con has all the elements I love and expect in my MM romance; hot sex, hot men, and an intriguing and engrossing plot.

Agent Bradley is undercover as a prostitute to recover a Faberge egg stolen from his family. Mafia heir, Tony, is going to be buying said egg, so naturally he’s mark. Bradley has to seduce him. Nothing hard or complicated about distracting some faceless man and stealing away the priceless egg. Except, Tony grabs Bradley’s libido and hangs on for dear life, never letting up on the pleasure or the thrills.

The attraction between the two men is hot, zero to sixty without warning, and surprise surprise, subby Tony is all ready and eager for Dom Bradley. The D/s relationship here isn’t as graphic as it could have been, Lori Toland takes her time and makes it about more than just the physical.

Despite the hot and heavy action between the sheets, Ms. Toland also creates a great story filled with shady characters nearly all of whom aren’t who they appear to be. The twists and turns in The Long Con made for a really enjoyable read. I found myself rooting for Tony and Bradley to have their HEA even before the complete picture had been painted. These two men were a joy to read, their love shining bright despite the many obstacles in their path. I for one would love to revisit them.

Living in the Now by Rawiya

Excerpt

Bryan finished swallowing and peered into Mara’s deep brown orbs. He sat his glass on the nightstand and took her hands into his own. “Mara, I want you to be a permanent part of my life with Damien. I want both of you. Is that something you’d be open to?”

Without hesitation she replied, “Yes. I told you it’s what I’ve thought about.”

He breathed a sigh of relief. “I’m glad you are, Mara. I know you mentioned it but I still worried…”

“Not sure why, babe. I want this.”

Bryan brought her into him and hugged her tightly. “I know he’ll like you, Mara. You’re exactly what I’ve been looking for and I’m sure he’ll feel the same.”

Mara returned the kiss. “I hope so. You really are unique.”

Bryan’s mouth felt like the Sahara. He couldn’t have been happier about her response. While he finished his water, “You really are somethin’, you know? I can’t believe how easy you are to talk to.”

Mara handed him the bottle. “Hon, I try not to worry about things. Life’s too short to do that. I’m just glad you’ve been honest with me.”

“I had to, babe. I really care for you, Mara. Even though we just met, I just feel like you’re the one I want to be with Damien and me. You’re everything I’ve hoped for.” Bryan put the wine down before holding up his glass to hers.

“You’re exactly what I’ve wished for too.”

New Release: Off the Shelf by Lucy Felthouse

This is a very special post for me. Unlike the other Wickedly Sexy Writers, I haven’t yet written a full length novel (though I’m getting there), but I have finally made the step up from short story into novella! This week sees the release of my first ever novella, Off the Shelf, which appears in Xcite Books anthology, The Secret Library: Silk Stockings.

This erotic romance story was a learning curve for me, but once I got into it, I had such fun writing it and adore the finished product (not to mention having the biggest crush on the hero, Damien). Here’s the blurb:

Silk StockingsAt 35, travel writer Annalise is fed up with insensitive comments about being left on the shelf. It’s not as if she doesn’t want a man, but her busy career doesn’t leave her much time for relationships. Sexy liaisons with passing acquaintances give Annalise physical satisfaction, but she needs more than that. She wants a man who will satisfy her mind as well as her body. But where will she find someone like that? It seems Annalise may be in luck when a new member of staff starts working in the bookshop at the airport she regularly travels through. Damien appears to tick all the boxes; he’s gorgeous, funny and intelligent, and he shares Annalise’s love of books and travel. The trouble is, Damien’s shy and Annalise is terrified of rejection. Can they overcome their fears and admit their feelings, or are they doomed to remain on the shelf?

And, just because you’re all so awesome, here’s a snippet from the beginning:

Pushing the ‘on’ button, Annalise moved the vibrator down between her parted legs and eased it inside her eager pussy. As the ears of the Rampant Rabbit slid into position on her clit, she groaned with pleasure and rolled her hips, desperate to get more delicious friction. Then she pressed another button on the toy’s control panel to ramp up the power another notch. As much as she’d prefer a slower build-up to her orgasm, she just didn’t have the time. She had to leave for the airport in a couple of hours, and she hadn’t even packed her case. A quick knee-trembler would have to suffice.

As the vibrator buzzed away between her thighs, Annalise closed her eyes and tried to empty her mind of anything but the pleasure she was experiencing. After a brief flirtation with the thought that she’d much prefer a hot man between her legs bringing her to orgasm, Annalise simply enjoyed the feeling of her impending climax. The busily-vibrating bunny ears pressed tightly against her sensitive flesh soon had her pussy fluttering. Then, without warning, Annalise was quickly yanked onto her pleasure plateau and immediately pushed off, leaving her writhing and shouting on the bed as a powerful orgasm overtook her body.

Annalise arched her back as waves of pleasure crashed over her, and her cunt clenched and grabbed at the toy buried deep inside. Her swollen clit throbbed, quickly becoming too sensitive for the unrelenting stimulation from the vibrator. Switching it off and pulling out, Annalise dropped the toy onto the mattress by her side and gave a satisfied moan as she rode out the remainder of her climax. Finally, when the twitches and spasms had abated and her heart rate and breathing were almost back to normal, Annalise grabbed the Rabbit and rolled across to the side of her bed where the toy box was kept. She made short but thorough work of cleaning it, then reluctantly put it in its case, popped it into the small bedside cupboard and shut the door.

Annalise hated leaving her favourite toy behind when she went away, but she just wasn’t brave enough to take it with her. She usually only took carry-on luggage, and the very thought of the distinctive shape of the Rampant Rabbit popping up on the screen of the airport scanners made her shudder. It would be bad enough for the staff to see it on their monitors, knowing what it was and giving her knowing looks; imagine what would happen if they decided to check inside her bags! She would want to curl up and die of embarrassment, she just knew it.

No, it was much better off staying here. She could make do with her right hand for a few days. Even better, she might even meet someone. Annalise smiled. She’d had some pretty steamy encounters on her travels. The desk clerk in Dubai, the gym manager in Turkey, the waiter in Corfu…

Annalise shook herself. This wasn’t the time to let her mind wander down that path and get herself all worked up. She had to go and get ready now. There’d be plenty of time for daydreaming later, when she was in long and boring queues, and on the flight.

See, I even started it off with some filth. I’m a Wickedly Sexy Writer for a reason ;)

So if you love erotic romance, check out The Secret Library: Silk Stockings, which also contains novellas from Constance Munday and Jenna Bright. I can’t wait to hear what you think of my first novella! :)

VBT: Wendi Zwaduk-Strip Tease Tour

Welcome guest blogger, Wendi Zwaduk as she makes a stop on her Strip Tease VBT. Today Wendy talks to us about her writing quirks…we all have those, right?

I’d like to thank the Wickedly Sexy Writers for having me today. I love getting to visit the new (to me) blogs and meeting new friends.  Taking the book on the Strip Tease tour has been a blast! Thanks!

I thought for my post today, I’d talk about one of my own writing quirks. I’d like to think nothing I do is quirky, but I know better. I’m a quirky person. I mean, I have blue hair, more piercings than anything and a penchant for boots. Yep. I’m a little different. So it stands to reason my writing would be a little different. Let’s say, I’m not very conventional.

What is one of the many quirks? I never have the story totally formed in my head when I sit down to write it. I go by a character and a scene. Probably not the best way to go with a story, but it works for me. For example, in Over My Head, I had Randy and Astra as fully formed characters. But I’d written When You’re With Me first. In that story, they were merely ideas. I don’t think they had names at the time I’d finished and submitted the original version of When You’re With me. I knew something would happen with them, that they had names, but beyond that I had nothing. So when I got the nudge from my publisher to put out Over My Head (it didn’t have a name at the time), I thought well, those characters needed their story told. Hmm… let’s run. And I did.

Another quirk that goes hand in hand with writing the story from a scene to start is my tendency to write part of the scene out long hand. That’s right. No computer, just me and a notebook. I write until I get bored, tired, or my attention goes in another direction – which happens a lot – then I let it percolate some more. Usually half a day later I sit down at the computer.  Usually then more of the scene comes out and I really get going. I’ve been known to take a scene, not know where it goes in the grand scheme of things and move it about three times. But I always use comment bubbles. I’d be lost without them. Great invention, comment bubbles.

Like I said, it’s not the most conventional, but it works for me. Questions? Thoughts? I’d love to hear them! Plus the comments get you in the hat for the prize at the end of the tour!

Over My Head

What happens when two opposites realise they have more in common than expected?

I’m a dancer…and a damn good one. I work at the Silver Steel Gentlemen’s Club. My hard and fast rule? No freebies and no office dating. Except for Slade. Hard, fast, slow, gentle…I don’t care. I’ll take him any way possible. But he’s not that into me.

Or so she thinks. I’m a bouncer at the Silver Steel. Astra doesn’t realise I see her—I can’t help myself. She captivates me every time she’s on the stage. I want her, but I have a…problem. I’m not at the Steel to pick up chicks or even work the room. I’m there to stop the influx of drugs into the community. Yeah, I’m a cop. But if the job means sampling the dancers… Well, as long as I keep my heart out of it, I’ll be fine.

I hope.

Reader Advisory: This book has a kick ass hero, a dancer with all the right moves, hot sex, a little mutual anal play for good measure and mention of drug use.

When You’re With Me

A topless dancer and a cynical cop doesn’t equal a lifetime love…or does it?

There’s more to Jude Nelson than just a sequined thong. She’s got big dreams to become an artist. There’s one tiny wrinkle in her plan—she’ll never forget the bloody image of her friend’s battered body in the dumpster.

Who can a nude dancer turn to for help? Certainly not a hardened undercover cop…

Detective Drew Alwyn is on the case to find out who murdered his good friend and fellow officer. But the moment he sees Jude, he can’t look away. He has to decide which is more important—his dedication to his job or the girl who holds his bruised and battered heart.

Will these two opposites come together to solve the case or will their desire consume them?

This story contains scenes of bondage, mentions of drug use by secondary characters, silk, sequins and art supplies used in foreplay, voyeurism and a little spanking for good measure.

ABOUT WENDI

I always dreamed of writing the stories in my head. Tall, dark, and handsome heroes are my favorites, as long as he has an independent woman keeping him in line. I tend to write books with titles taken from songs because music is one of my many muses.

I earned a BA in education at Kent State university and as well as a Masters in Education from Nova Southeastern University. I’ve tried my hand at teaching, waitressing, and retail sales, but writing holds my heart.

I love NASCAR, romance, books in general, Ohio farmland, dirt racing, and my menagerie of animals. I have more stories than my brain can handle percolating.  I can’t wait to share them with you!

Sex in a Sacred Landscape

Britain is a fabulous place for paranormal inspiration involving witches and ghosts. I was living in the States dabbling in Wiccan lore on my own when I first came in contact with the idea of a sacred landscape. The most powerful picture of that human connection with the sacred land, complete with the ancient idea of the king being married to the land, came from Marion Zimmer Bradley’s stunning novel, The Mists of Avalon.  No novel has ever inspired my world view quite like it. Like most people growing up in Western civilisation, I was familiar with the term ‘the Holy Land,’ always referring to Palestine and Israel. The place was considered holy because of the events that supposedly happened there.

In Pagan Britain, however, it wasn’t events that made the land sacred. The land was sacred simply because it was the land, and the land fed, clothed and sheltered the people. Having said that, the idea of a fertility cult makes a whole lot more sense from the standpoint of sympathetic magic. If the people want the land to be fertile, to produce food for them and for the animals, then it’s not all that surprising that sex should figure strongly into the sacred rites and into the magical petitioning for the earth’s continued bounty.

The changing of the seasons and the sacred cycle of life, death, and rebirth is evident in a lot of the ancient passage tombs. In Newgrange in Ireland, for example, a shaft of sunlight penetrates the slit-like opening of the passage tomb only on the Winter Solstice and one day before and after. And then the days get longer, spring returns and with it the crops can be planted insuring food for the next year. It’s hard to miss the symbolism. It’s not uncommon for sacred sites to be built so that the sun penetrates the main chamber only at sunrise or sunset on Winter of Summer Solstice.

Sex and the land have always gone hand in hand. Nothing is more important than the insuring of food and safety for the people, which in turn, insures of the next generation. And in the early days before anyone understood the scientific explanations for the movement of the seasons and the act of procreation, it must have most definitely seemed like magic.

I chose to use sex magic for my witches in the Elemental Coven in Body Temperature and Rising because, in my opinion, there’s not a more powerful physical act that humans can perform. Sex is a way of reaching altered states, it’s a way of making oneself vulnerable and open, it’s a way of getting inside another person, it’s a joining, and it’s also the only place where two become one, and then possibly three.  I also chose to set my coven in one of the most powerful, most intriguing landscapes of Britain — Cumbria and the Lake District. It seemed appropriate since the story revolves around the sacred circle and the calling of the powers of the cardinal directions, which is the beginning and the ending for pagan magic rites. I wanted those cardinal directions and the powers they represented to be dramatic in the extreme, and I wanted them to play a role in each of the novels of the trilogy. Ultimately the Lakeland Heatwave Trilogy is the story of the decimated Elemental Coven returning to power to do battle with a demon it has fought for two centuries.

Sex plays an intricate part in all of the magic performed in Body Temperature and Rising, and is both a part of the tragedy and the triumph that drives the story. Body Temperature and Rising is not a novel in which sex is inserted into the plot, rather it is a plot in which sex is crucial to the conflict and to the solution, as is the landscape in which the story is set. The book itself opens with American transplant to the Lake District, Marie Warren’s voyeuristic experience of sex magic in the mist on the high fells. No place has ever inspired me quite like the Lake District, and no place has ever lent itself so perfectly to tales of witches, ghosts, magic and sex.

Body Temperature and Rising

American transplant to the Lake District, MARIE WARREN, didn’t know she could unleash demons and enflesh ghosts until a voyeuristic encounter on the fells ends in sex with the charming ghost, ANDERSON, and night visits from a demon. To help her cope with her embarrassing and dangerous new abilities, Anderson brings her to the ELEMENTALS, a coven of witches who practice rare sex magic that temporarily allows needy ghosts access to the pleasures of the flesh.

DEACON, the demon Marie has unleashed, holds an ancient grudge against TARA STONE, coven high priestess, and will stop at nothing to destroy all she holds dear. Marie and her landlord, the reluctant young farmer, TIM MERIWETHER, are at the top of his list. Marie and Tim must learn to wield coven magic and the numinous power of their lust to stop Deacon’s bloody rampage before the coven is torn apart and more innocent people die.

K D Grace was born with a writing obsession. It got worse once she actually learned HOW to write. There’s no treatment for it. It’s progressive and chronic and quite often interferes with normal, everyday functioning. She might actually be concerned if it wasn’t so damned much fun most of the time.

K D’s critically acclaimed erotic romance novels, The Initiation of Ms Holly, The Pet Shop and Lakeland Heatwave Book 1: Body Temperature and Rising are published by Xcite Books and are available from all good paperback and eBook retailers.

Her erotica has been published with Xcite Books, Mammoth, Cleis Press, Harper Collins Mischief Books, Black Lace, Erotic Review, Ravenous Romance, Sweetmeats Press and Scarlet Magazine.

Welcome Randi Alexander and Goodies

Hey guys! Please welcome the talented Randi Alexander as she takes the reins for the day. What effect does writing the hot stuff really have on us authors? I’ll let Randi answer.

Take it away, Randi!

~*~

New Release, Contest, and Book Giveaway!

Thank you to Avril and all the Wickedly Sexy Writers. It’s a pleasure to be a guest on your blog. I’m Randi Alexander and I write cowboy erotic romance. I’m published with The Wild Rose Press’ Cowboy Kink line. My second Cowboy Kink, Her Cowboy Stud, was released March 23.

Are authors of sexy romance inherently sexy themselves? I have to believe they are. To write a scorching hot love scene, you have to be present in the moment, a participant as the character whose point of view you are in.

I’ve heard authors say they write sex scenes and hate it. Do they really feel nothing when describing where his tongue is, where she just nipped at him, or how it feels when he slides himself inside her?

When I write the hot stuff, I’m squirming in my chair. For hours! One love scene can take a reader five minutes to get through, but that same scene takes me ninety minutes to write. Imagine how titillating that is, going slow motion through a truly intense sex scene, choreographing every touch, taste, smell, channeling each emotion and every physical reaction.

Usually, about three-fourths of the way through, I have to take a break. I find my husband (he’s become well attuned to what that look in my eye means!) Or, if he’s not home, I pull out the little locked box from under my bed.

I know I’m oversharing, but I wanted to explain how intensely a writer feels about their love scenes. How writing them can – and should – be a moving, shaking, wickedly sexy experience. And how authors allow themselves to become this absorbed into the story in order to make reading the book a sensual, sensuous experience.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. If you’re an author, do you absolutely love writing the sexy scenes? If you’re a reader, can you tell the difference between sex scenes written by an author who’s deep into the moment, and an author who writes them but doesn’t enjoy it? Leave a comment for your chance to win an ecopy of Cowboy Bad Boys.

Trace McGonagall’s quiet life on his Houston stud ranch is shaken up when gorgeous Macy Veralta arrives to claim an inheritance left to her in his uncle’s will. Trace sees her as just another gold digger, but he also can’t resist her curvy body. When she hints at being the perfect submissive to his Dom, he has to have her.

Macy wouldn’t have been three months late to claim her inheritance if she’d known Trace was sin in jeans. The cowboy’s dominant bearing and the smoldering glint in his eyes send shivers to her toes and stirs images of being bound in his bed and disciplined at his hand. But could Trace’s perfect seduction be part of his plan to reclaim her inheritance?

EXCERPT:

Trace surprised himself by growing hard so soon after Macy’s fantastic blow job. Staring down into Macy’s eyes, he positioned his body to fit perfectly on top of hers. He finally had her in his bed. When Macy wiggled her hips, rolling his cock between their bellies while purring like a contented kitten, he knew he’d never have enough of her.

“You can practice on me as much as you want.” He kissed her, a brush of lips that changed into a sweetly desperate, wordless communication of the thoughts he couldn’t voice. He’d never felt anything like what she’d just done. He’d never come so hard or so fast in a woman’s mouth before. He’d never trusted enough to let go completely. Never before…Macy.

Everything she did, everything she said reinforced his gut feeling about her. Added to that, Silas had the intuition of a mind reader when it came to dealing with people. If the old man liked her—enough to plan this elaborate introduction—well, that carried a lot of weight. Why Trace had ignored his intuition and gone with his suspicious paranoia, he’d never know. It had all seemed a little too good to be true. Shit. He’d almost lost her.

He expressed his emotions with his kiss, with his lips, tongue, and teeth, nipping her lip, groaning as she bit at his. What started as gentle quickly became primal. Raw. He wanted more. Now. His hard cock, sandwiched between them, needed to be deep inside this perfect woman.

Under him, her body writhed sensually, a dance choreographed to drive him wild. Against her lips, he said, “I want to make love to you.”

Her breathing hitched and she looked into his eyes, first astonishment, then hope glowed in her pretty blue eyes and she whispered, “Love me, Trace.”

He did. Something about her, everything about her, made him hunger. Physically and emotionally. It was like nothing he’d experienced.

Without breaking eye contact, he reached into the bedside table and pulled out a condom. One of the box of twelve he’d purchased yesterday. After opening it with his teeth, he rolled it onto his cock with one hand. She spread her legs. As they watched each other, the word “love” still hanging heavily in the air between them, he found her opening with his rod and slowly slid home.

Her eyes rolled back for a second as a sweet cry left her mouth.

He let out a low rumble as his shaft absorbed her heat, settled deliciously in her tight wetness, the walls of her core tightening around him.

Their eyes locked again. Desperately he wanted to suckle at her nipples, lick the tender spot under her ear, and bite her lobe, but he couldn’t look away. Didn’t want to break the powerful contact.

He arched his back and slid nearly out of her then back in. Her exquisitely small, slick pussy seared him as he buried himself deep.

Macy’s hands slid to the back of his neck, her fingers running through his hair, across his shoulders, and down his biceps, repeating the trip until suddenly her hands gripped his shoulders. Her face and neck grew pink as her passion raced higher. When she arched her back, he angled his hips, letting his pubic bone rub her clit, his hair providing rough stimulation as he slowly made love to her.

Love. The word kept ricocheting through his mind and he worked to deflect it. Too soon, too much. She was beautiful, sexy in a way he’d never known a woman could be, uninhibited and seductive. She could be his. His woman. The intense realization had him pumping his cock in deeper, faster with each stroke.

New Release: Red Grow the Roses by Janine Ashbless

Blurb:

Red Grow the Roses

“Maybe you’ll be lucky. Maybe he’s not human. He’ll take you in his arms and you’ll feel his strength – a strength that makes it impossible to fight him. But you’ve already lost the will to resist, that moment he looked into your eyes and showed you all his hunger and his promise. You knew then. You knew that this is what you are for – what we are all for – with our warm beating hearts and our aching sexual needs.

We are for them.”

There are six vampires in the city. Ageless, terrifyingly beautiful and always hungry – not just for blood but for the other pleasures the human body offers. Sadistic chanteuse Estelle; feckless Ben; Roisin, the mirror-ghost; Wakefield, haunted by his own damnation; Naylor, the most feral of them all.

And Reynauld is the Good Shepherd, the one who holds them all in check. But his grip on his own humanity is fading, and when Wakefield accidentally kills a woman and Naylor gets the blame, a power-struggle erupts between the city’s immortal undead.

Red Grow the Roses tells of bloodlust and sexual desire; for vampires the two are indistinguishable. These transgressive, startling stories draw the reader down the darkest and most seductive paths of pleasure – to where the monsters are waiting.

Excerpt

‘I don’t feed from humans,’ Wakefield hissed, trembling.

‘That’s what I heard. I just find it hard to believe.’ Rolling onto her knees, she reached for the discarded rose he’d cut for her. ‘Nasty sharp thorns these things have got,’ she mused, laying the stem across her bare breasts. With a twitch she drew it down, scoring her flesh with half-a-dozen needle-pointed thorns, shuddering as the pain burned through her. Pin-points of blood rose on her pale skin and swelled, a string of rubies decorating the white flesh and the roseate nipples. ‘Ah,’ she groaned.

Robert Wakefield seemed to grow taller; his hard-on bulged. She could taste the coppery tang of her victory.

‘Tell me; have you ever whipped a girl with your roses, Mr Wakefield?’ Lilla began to crawl backwards from him on hands and knees, arse swaying, breasts wobbling. ‘Maybe one of your servants? The parlour maid perhaps? You ever taken a bunch of roses and whipped their tits?’ She put on a country accent for her next words, her voice suddenly breathlessly innocent but at the same time teasing: ‘Oh Mr Wakefield, you wouldn’t be thinking of doing that to a poor innocent girl? I couldn’t bear that sir – it’ll hurt something cruel. You wouldn’t want to ruin a helpless maid, would you, sir? You wouldn’t want that on your conscience?’

Inhumanly swift, he lunged and grabbed the front of her bodice and yanked her up to slam her against one of the wrought-iron pillars. Eagerly Lilla extended her hands over her head, thrusting her breasts out so that he might feed. But he didn’t, not right away. He looked down at her with a face hollow with hunger, and then he took hold of her long drawers at the waist and snapped the drawstring with one tug of his wrists. He tore the damp, clinging cotton from her thighs to bare her sex, and then he tied her wrists with the twisted strips and secured her to a ornamental bracket high on the pillar, hauling her up onto her toes. She said nothing, words robbed from her by anticipation, lips parted about her shallow breaths.

His face mask-like, his eyes burning, he plunged his cold fingers between her thighs and up inside her, breaching the gates of her sex to take the measure of her heat, the slick of juices, the yielding sucking flex of her tight hole. Lilla writhed on his hand, twisting helplessly with each thrust of his wrist, and he watched her breasts jiggle and bounce, their pink points dewed in red. His teeth were so extended now that his upper lip did not hide them.

‘Oh please,’ she gasped. ‘Please – bite me!’
